AoE2 pro Marcus “LeRoflcopter” Leonard trying to find time between tournaments and being fucking old

Fireball Esports chats exclusively with top AoE pro Marcus “LeRoflcopter” Leonard about his journey becoming one of the scenes most prolific players.

“I’m honored to be representative of this scene, it’s really good and has some of the best people being involved.”

But the Age of Empires pro league isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, Leonard stressed that years of playing the medieval strategy game has taken its toll.

“When I first started it was hard to find the time, but ever since my wife left me 10 years ago, I have been able to focus all my energy on being the best, and paying child support” said a clearly emotional Leonard.

When pressed further on his family life, we had to pause because he fell asleep during the interview. Once awoken and the panic screams ceased the interview continued.

“I’m honored to be representative of this scene, it’s really good and has some of the best people being involved.” Leonard said for a second time.

AoE2 was first released in September 1999 and has been widely considered one of the most influential games ever created.

The inevitable esports scene developed which turned regular players into thousandaires. Leonard explained some of the sacrifices he’s made to reach the mountain top of professional AoE2.

“Money? Other players are getting paid?”

With the next AoE2 LAN being held at the St Agatha’s retirement home’s recreation room Leonard expressed his disappointment in not making it.

“I’ll try to make this LAN but I may have to cancel due to conflicting doctors appointments”

“I mean $1000 first place is nice but catching the early stages of prostate cancer is better”
