Sources: LEC frontrunners G2 Esports to base next draft on Wunder’s tea leaves

G2 Esports are set to base their champion draft against Rogue in Week 8 of the League of Legends European Championship around Martin “Wunder” Hansen’s leftover tea leaves from Wednesday morning, sources close to the team has told Fireball Esports.

After the team suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of Team Vitality last weekend with Wunder playing Garen top lane, the team has confirmed they will no longer be taking draft advice from the LEC crowd or guest casters like Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith.

From now on, the source close to the European defending champions said, the players would rather choose their champions based on proven techniques rather than “funny jokes.”

“I know that everyone had a bit of a laugh when Wunder tried spinning to win last weekend, but the whole team copped a bit of a spray from Carlos [Ocelote, founder of G2],” the source told Fireball.

“After Perkz had a 3-0 run on Yasuo based off the throwing of the bones that Rasmus [Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther] suggested, we’ve decided to stick to what works rather than just ‘troll’ stuff.”

G2 Esports has been no stranger to wildcard picks in the past. During the team’s run to the semi-finals at 2018’s World Championship, then bot laner Petter “Hjarnan” Freyschuss played Heimerdinger when it wasn’t banned.

More recently, every member of G2 – including Ocelote in a show-match at NA-EU Rift Rivals – had a turn of playing Pyke, with varying levels of success.

Sources also confirmed Wunder had been drinking Earl Grey Jasmine Teekanne throughout the week. It is not yet known if the brand of tea will have any impact on what champions are chosen.

Teekanne was contacted by Fireball Esports, but declined to comment.
