Local woman in esports joins org where male owner isn’t a creep, immediately goes to buy a lotto ticket

“I never thought I’d see the day,” began the woman who’s just entered her 20s.

“I’d heard so many warnings and quiet whispers at events from fellow women in the scene, that I just assumed that a male org owner who doesn’t make women in the industry feel uncomfortable didn’t exist!”

Working in the esports scene for a while under a few different organisations, all ran by men, she felt like she was starting to lose hope.

“It’s a known problem in the scene, where these older men with power will take advantage of these younger girls. Everyone knows about it but no one seems to speak up.”

One woman we reached out to recounted us the story (a story that was later corroborated by many more women we spoke to) of how they attended an esports after party only to be approached in a one on one conversation with a male org owner and asked if they wanted to see how long his tongue was.

Though the legitimacy of this alleged story begs to be questioned, with other sources denying the claims.

“Well, I didn’t see the tongue,” started a man who attended the event,

“So to be honest, it probably didn’t happen.”

Another male had his own piece to say, “He’s a really cool guy. He was probably just drunk.”

After attending this particular event herself, and experiencing numerous other uncomfortable moments that accompany being a woman in esports, the young 20 year old expressed that she felt quite lucky to have landed herself working under her new org owner.

“Like I’ve won the lotto!” she exclaimed.
